– Families of Ozaukee County –

Nearly all of my American ancestors lived in Ozaukee County for at least part of their lives. It will always be my home, and I will never stop digging to learn more about it! Here is what I have found so far.

IS EVERY FAMILY IN OZAUKEE COUNTY HERE?
Heavens, no. I started this tree with my own ancestors, but quickly realized that most of the families in the area are very interconnected. I started keeping any bit of info or photo I could find for local families. It’s a very large project that I will likely never finish, but I’ll keep plugging away.
YOU MISSED MY GREAT-GREAT-GRANDMA!
I would love to add your family! Please send information and photos of your ancestors to luxembourgish@gmail.com. Right now, I’m focused on 1940 and earlier, due to many privacy rights issues in the US.
HOW CAN I FIND MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER?

There are many wonderful resources out there for someone just getting started in genealogy. I will be blogging about this very topic! I’m also available for hire as a private consultant. I can save you so much time and heartbreak with some simple guidance!

I FOUND A MISTAKE ON THIS SITE
Genealogy is the ultimate collaborative work, and I love to connect with other researchers. I try to only include data with full citations. Of course, sources (especially census records) have incorrect information all the time! So I definitely want to know about any errors. Please do let me know at luxembourgish@gmail.com
HOW DO I GET DUAL CITIZENSHIP IN LUXEMBOURG?
Gaining dual citizenship is both a privilege and a veritable mountain of paperwork. I found the Facebook Group Re-acquisition of Luxembourg Nationality – Article 29 absolutely indispensable for the DIY route. But if you’re not ready to go it alone, Kevin Wester of LuxDualCitizenship has helped hundreds of people around the world with this process.
HOW FAR BACK DOES THIS TREE GO?

As of June 2021, I have completed my own tree through seven generations back (my great-great-great-great-great-grandparents), which takes me to about the mid-1700s.* There are some branches that reach much farther back, however. The oldest birth date recorded is 1662.

*There are two 6th-gen couples that I have not cracked yet – Germans and Americans. Why can’t everyone be Luxembourgish?!
